Rhonda V. Magee, J.D., is a Professor of Law at the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she has been a full-time member of the faculty since 1998, and the author of The Inner Work of Racial Justice. She also co-directs USF’s Center for Teaching Excellence. She is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute, and a member of the board of advisors of the Mindfulness in Law Society.
Before joining USF, Professor Magee practiced insurance litigation as an associate at a Chicago-based international law firm, primarily representing insurance industry clients in complex insurance coverage litigation. Professor Magee presently teaches Torts; Race, Law and Policy; and Contemplative Lawyering. She has published law review articles and essays in such publications as the Virginia Law Review, the Alabama Law Review, and the San Francisco Chronicle. Her writing and teaching is inspired by her commitments to teaching and learning effective practices for presence-based collaboration in a diverse and ever-changing world. The author of the article, Educating Lawyers to Meditate? 79 UMKC L. Rev. 535 (2011) (Lead Article), she is a thought and practice leader in the fields of Inclusive Pedagogy, Contemplative Pedagogy and Contemplative Lawyering.
