Judi (she/her) is the founder of Warrior One. An attorney, law professor, and 35-year student of mindfulness and yoga, Judi practiced as a real estate attorney for 30 years and for ten of those years, also taught academic courses at the University of San Francisco School of Law. Since 2016, Judi has been a lecturer at Berkeley Law where she teaches a course called Mindfulness for the Legal Mind.

Judi is a lead teacher in all of Warrior One’s programs, including our biennial Mindfulness in Law Teacher Training, a unique training for legal professionals to deepen their mindfulness practice and learning to offer mindfulness to the profession. She also leads Warrior One’s Wake Up Call for Lawyers, a weekly live online gathering consisting of a ten-minute mindfulness talk and ten minutes of guided meditation, available as a podcast and on YouTube and InsightTimer.

Judi is a founding board member and the co-chair of the Teachers Collective of the Mindfulness in Law Society (MILS). She is also a co-facilitator of Yes.org’s Law and Social Change Jam, an annual gathering of legal professionals exploring personal, interpersonal, and systemic change in the law and world.

Judi has sat over 150 days of silent retreat practice in the Insight Meditation tradition with a focus on awareness and concentration practices. She is authorized to teach by James Baraz, a founding teacher of Spirit Rock Meditation Center.

Judi lives in Sonoma, California, on the lands of the Miwok and Coast Miwok. When she isn’t studying, practicing, or teaching mindfulness, Judi is hiking, practicing yoga, cross-country skiing, and hanging out with her partner, a retired Emergency Department physician and current yoga instructor, and their kids and grandkids.
