Demarris Evans is a Warrior One teacher. She is also the leader of the Restorative Justice department at the San Francisco District Attorneys office, a lecturer at San Francisco State University in the College of Ethnic Studies, where she lectures in the Department of Race and Resistance Studies, and a former deputy public defender in the San Francisco Office of the Public Defender, where she was a trial lawyer for twenty years and worked in various capacities from capital cases to collaborative courts. Demarris also teaches mindfulness through the lens of equity, healing and human potential. She is a graduate of the Warrior One Mindfulness in Law Teacher Training program (class of 2016), the Dedicated Practitioners Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College. She is also a co-facilitator for the Law and Social Change Jam. Demarris has been practicing mindfulness since the late 1990’s and has sat numerous silent, multi-day retreats. She obtained her JD from Santa Clara University and her BA from UC Berkeley.
